The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the largest University in Greece. The Medical school accommodates >400 academic staff and >3500 active students. The Assistive Technologies and Silver Science Group within the Lab of Medical Physics has received major research and development focus in the field of AAL and Biomedical Engineering.

Main tasks to be carried on within the project

AUTH will be responsible for conduting the pilot site in Thessaloniki. The AUTH team has some 15 workstations available for trial sites and a central DB with senior data and pilots. Participants in the pilot will be healthy (retired) people aged 65+ at risk of cognitive decline. Further activities will include definition of requirements as well as other horizontal roles in exploitation and dissemination.

How the profile matches with the tasks assigned and previous experience in relevant projects

AUTH is a perfect candidate for the pilot proposed in that it has specialised facilities for a trial site involving elderly people (see following section on infrastructure available to the partner). In addition, the Group has successfully coordinated a CIP-PSP EU project on Elderly Care and Cognitive and Physical Training within Ambient Assistive Living (LongLastingMemories, LLM), as well as, an eContentPlus project on Multi-type Content Repurposing and Sharing in Medical Education (mEducator), actively participates with technical developments and pilot design and deployment within the FP7 USEFIL project. It holds a huge database of senior data from the previous 3 year pilots (EEG data, exergame data, demographics, neuropsychological tests etc). The group has advanced its Involvement in the LLM project and the respective business plan by materialising the Greek Business plan case and is now offering the LLMcare services as a commercial exploitation in Greece and Cyprus ( Further relevant projects involve EPICURE (top 10 finalist project of the Eurobank National Innovation Contest) and DISCOVER (ICT-PSP).
